Sangiovese or Jupiter’s Blood (sanguis Jovis) originated
in Italy in the
province of Tuscany.
Old Granite Sangiovese is cultivated in the
Beverley district of the Avon Valley in Western Australia,
which has a Mediterranean climate similar to that of central
Italy.
This robust vine is ideally suited to this area and produces
excellent fruit in often harsh Wheatbelt conditions. The
fruit is hand picked at the optimum time to produce this
delightful wine.
This wine is light to medium bodied with spicy and raspberry
aromas and earthy plum flavours. Lightly chilled, this easy
drinking wine is perfect with a summer lunch or just to
enjoy by itself.
The vineyard produced its first vintage in 2004 and was
awarded a “Highly Commended” at the Wandering
Wheatbelt Wine aWards in 2005.
